Grand West underwent a revamp of their master plan substation. The original specification was the use of 2hr fire rated dry walling to a height of 5.0m. Due to the height, it required the dry walling to increase in thickness which resulted in high costs for the track and stud system. The designers were also working with tight tolerances in floor plan which the dry wall could not support. The requirement for fire rated doors and roller shutter doors complicated the fixing details even further and drove up costs even further.

Aertec was approached and was able to provide an AAC solution to comply with the fire rating, wall stability, floor plan tolerances, fixing of fire doors but more importantly reduce costs considerably.
