Unique High End Micro Apartment Extension Sea Point

The owner of the apartment was looking to extend his liveable space by enclosing the balcony. The problem the designers faced, was such that the balcony is a cantilevered reinforced concrete slab, with limitations on the permissible loading. The only way for the idea to come together was to use Aertec AAC and a light frame shopfront system encapsulating the balcony. In addition, the AAC plinth had a double function, one to provide a platform for the timber joists to be secured to, creating a mezzanine floor and two; a solid sound surface for the shopfront system to be fixed to.
